On April 6, 2010 – my first ever “media/press” article was released for the book “You Are Sooooo Beautiful”.
Here is the Edmonton journal article
and here is the full interview blog
I am so thankful to Cam Tait from the journal for doing this for me. To be honest, I am feeling pretty special that he decided my story was news-worthy with all that is going on in the world.
It was very exciting to be featured in our local city paper and does offer a sense and feeling of accomplishment.
More than that, I met one of the most inspiring people I have ever met through this process. Cam Tait.
Cam sent me over email about 20 questions – questions that I really hadn’t thought of – questions that challenged me and hit me right at the core. I knew I wanted to meet with him and talk in person and actually thank him for creating such insight and awareness about the “why” behind my book.
I did get to meet Cam and I walked away from that meeting in gushing tears.
Cam Tait has been a journalist for over 30 years. His deep passion is kids recognizing their potential. He is hilarious. His energy and “air about him” are captivating and he is a person I could sit with for hours without saying a word. He is inspiring and radiates sheer kindness.
He has a grand story of his own. A very deep, inspiring and captivating story. Yet, Cam chooses to be of service to others and I have a feeling it is all about paying it forward to those that have helped him.
Oh yeah, and Cam Tait was born with cerebral palsy. He is beyond inspiring.
Thanks Cam for featuring me in your article and blog in a world full of amazing people, doing amazing things. Your kindness towards me and your interest in my story has been engraved on my heart.

I love that you were able to portray your message that even the littlest people can comprehend. My 4 year old, has asked me to read it several times a day since we’ve got it and it’s her bedtime story choice too!”

There are quite a few uses inside the pages of this book. Today I want to speak to the age of the audience. I absolutely love being able to share my insights with you here because trust me – the process of publishing a book as I have come to know is very much focused around target audience.
I have had some very gracious feedback about the responses and reactions of really young children. By this I am specifically talking ages 3, 4 and some 5 year olds.
Some comments have been ‘I am not sure my daughter, age 4, found the value in the message” or “I think it was a bit lost on my child, age 5″.
I absolutely LOVE this response and feedback and to tell you the truth – I am so very glad. It warms my heart that the very young audience will not be impacted with a huge ah-ha moment while reading this book. I find joy in knowing that the audience of this very young age group will walk away as though no big insight has occurred.
I can’t wait to share with you the “why”. Ready?
You see, a child who is 3,4, or even 5 may not see the “value” in this book or be affected by this message because to them this is the way it already is.
This message is how they live their daily lives. This message is who we are as young children. It is our birthright. It is only as we age and become exposed to social conditioning and media definitions that we start slowly walking away from and shedding this gifted belief.
You see, a very strong reason for writing this book and my passion behind it is so that it IS read to these young children. What better time to start affirming a healthy definition of beauty and encouraging confidence in a child’s uniqueness. Even if a child does not want to sit though the entire book yet at 2 years old, a daily dose of this message will go a very long way. The use of the “tool” and messages within these pages will only serve to solidify the self acceptance and freedom displayed by children.
You Are Sooooo Beautiful is meant to create a solid foundation, a foundation so strong that although our esteem may endure some hairline cracks or small chips off our walls - it will never need repaired or rebuilt. Only reminded.
Children soak up everything like sponges. Why not have them absorb a life of confidence and start affirming their True Beauty at the earliest age possible. Your example and affirmations will establish a foundation for them to stand rock solid in who they are as the curve balls of life, people and the media do there darnedest to huff and puff and blow their house down…
My hope is that You Are Sooooo Beautiful is read even to the youngest of children on a regular basis to ensure a rock solid foundation in a child’s free and confidant spirit.
Lovingly,
Leanne

March 2nd, 2010 by Leanne Power
March 1st marks the date that my children’s book is available in stores. Well, “A” store! Greenwood’s Bookstore in Edmonton, Alberta Canada will be remembered as the first store that has taken on m y book.
Greenwood’s is a local store, no franchise in this name. But let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised and pretty much felt like i should be eating my foot today.
You see, I have always had a very big stereotype about local bookstores. Small, dark, dingy, musty, unorganized and cluttered. Where did that come from? No idea but today I was enchanted while walking around Greenwood’s.
It is truly delightful, very well organized, spacious, bright, friendly staff and so very very supportive of local EVERYTHING!
No, there was no Starbucks cafe but the quaint atmosphere oozed essence of true book lovers.
I am excited not only to find a place where hours could get lost but am honoured to say that Greenwood’s Bookstore is the first bookstore ever to retail “You Are Sooooo Beautiful” by Leanne Power.
Insert big happy sigh………………….
